Before the laws allowed police officers to take your belongings if they believe they could\u2019ve been used in a crime and they got to keep them and use the money on whatever they wanted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the new forfeiture laws were passed in April it is now harder for police officers to seize these items without a criminal conviction. They also now have to return those items back to its owner by a certain amount of time if it does not meet the conditions for them to keep.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brad Rideout of Rideout Law Group was thrilled to hear about the passing of the new forfeiture laws.
