Each county\u2019s superior court will handle pretrial services in their own way, and municipal and justice courts may also run their own pretrial services as well.<\/p>\n<p>The courts will determine a \u201cPublic Safety Assessment\u201d (PSA) for each defendant to accurately determine their likelihood to engage in additional crimes or violence or fail to return to court. These pretrial services are generally overseen by probation officers.<\/p>\n<p>Common examples of a defendant\u2019s release decisions are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Being released on their own recognizance.<\/li>\n<li>Being released with bond.<\/li>\n<li>Being held without bond.<\/li>\n<li>Undergoing pretrial with conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Undergoing pretrial with electronic monitoring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Common conditions of release may require a defendant to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remain law-abiding.<\/li>\n<li>Not leave Arizona borders without court approval.<\/li>\n<li>Appear at all court proceedings.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in treatment or assistance programs.<\/li>\n<li>Submit to drug or alcohol testing.<\/li>\n<li>Not possess firearms or other deadly items.<\/li>\n<li>Undergo ankle monitoring or submit to curfews.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Defendants who are ordered to submit to routine drug or alcohol testing will not be able to count these tests as <a href=\"https:\/\/rideoutlaw.com\/court-ordered-classes-and-assessments-in-arizona\/\">court-ordered classes<\/a>.
