These time limitations vary depending on the offense committed, with particularly serious crimes holding no time limitation at all. These limitations are laid out in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azleg.gov\/ars\/13\/00107.htm\">A.R.S. 13-107<\/a>. Prosecution is considered to have officially commenced when an indictment, information, or complaint is filed.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Offenses With No Time Limitations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The following offenses hold no time limitation and their prosecution may begin at any time:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any <a href=\"https:\/\/rideoutlaw.com\/understanding-the-types-of-homicide-in-arizona\/\">homicide<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Conspiracy to commit homicide that result in the death of a person.<\/li>\n<li>Any class 2 felony sexual offense.<\/li>\n<li>Any class 2 felony sexual exploitation of children.<\/li>\n<li>Any violent <a href=\"https:\/\/rideoutlaw.com\/sexual-assault-arizonas-rape-laws-a-r-s-13-1406\/\">sexual assault<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Terrorism.<\/li>\n<li>Unlawful use of infectious biological substance or radiological agent.<\/li>\n<li>Child sex trafficking.<\/li>\n<li>Any misuse of public monies.<\/li>\n<li>A felony involving falsification of public records.<\/li>\n<li>Any attempt to commit any of the above-listed offenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Time Limitations for Other Offenses<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Prosecution for other offenses must commence with the following time periods after actual discovery:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seven years \u2013 Class 2 through Class 6 felonies.<\/li>\n<li>One year \u2013 Misdemeanor offenses.<\/li>\n<li>Six months \u2013 Petty offenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Time Limitation Exceptions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Some offenses have time limitations that are specific to them.
