Las Vegas recently added a street cleaning law that penalized anyone who physically obstructs cleaners. Las Vegas has been in the news quite often over the last few months for a controversial law that made it illegal to sleep on the street while shelter beds are available. Supporters claimed it was pushing the homeless to new resources and shelters, while critics accused it of criminalizing homeless. A new law has come to light recently that has had the same criticisms. This one makes it a misdemeanor to have objects (carts, clothes, bags, etc.) blocking street cleaners. The mayor of Las Vegas stated the law is necessary to keep the city clean, but will the law hold up against legal challenges? Only time will tell.
