[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Maricopa County aims to keep nonviolent first-time offenders out of prison with waiving their diversion program’s entry fee[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]In the past, if you were a first time offender with a drug-related or non-violent crime, you could get out of prison time (depending on your case) by taking an expensive diversion program. The entry fee for one of these programs was a staggering $630. Maricopa County has recently combined both of their programs and will now waive the entry fee. The Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel hopes that this measure will keep these first-time offenders out of prison and back into society.
