Through extensive guidelines and limiting capacity, Mohave County Jail has kept Coronavirus contained while the rest of the county experiences widespread outbreaks.
With any pandemic comes a host of new challenges for prisons and jails. Containment of any virus or disease requires thorough guidelines to protect inmates. By lowering capacity, extensive cleaning and sanitation, masks, and social distancing, Mohave County Jail has seen only 19 positive cases this year out of 1,033 inmates tested, which is a case positivity rate of only 1.8%.
According to the article below: «According to data released Thursday by the Arizona Department of Health Services, about 12% of testing for unincarcerated county residents showed positive results. And according to county officials, more than 1,000 new cases throughout Mohave County have been reported in December alone.»
Major credit is due to Mohave County Jail and all who help create a safer environment for inmates. They should be used as an example for other prisons and jails around the state of Arizona and the country who are struggling to contain the infectious virus.
