Expungement Attorneys in Scottsdale & Lake Havasu City

Clear Your Criminal Record in Phoenix, Scottsdale & Lake Havasu

If you've been arrested or convicted of a crime in Arizona, your record may still appear in background checks, even if charges were dismissed or set aside. At Rideout Law Group, we help clients throughout Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Lake Havasu City pursue expungement and record sealing, so they can move forward with clean records and restored opportunities.

Whether you're applying for a job, housing, or professional license—or simply want peace of mind—we can help you explore your eligibility under ARS §13-911 and guide you every step of the way.

What Is Expungement in Arizona?

Expungement legally erases or hides past criminal charges and arrests from public view. This means:

  • Employers, landlords, and schools won’t see past charges in background checks
  • You can truthfully state that you have no criminal record in most cases
  • Your civil rights—including the right to vote or own a firearm—may be restored

ARS §13-911 (effective in 2023) allows eligible individuals to seal or expunge their records if:

  • You were convicted and completed all sentence terms
  • Your charges were dismissed or resulted in a not-guilty verdict
  • You were arrested but never charged

Expungement vs. Set Aside vs. Record Sealing

  • Expungement: Complete removal of arrests and convictions from public view
  • Sealing: Record is hidden from the public but still visible to some agencies
  • Set Aside: Judgment of guilt is vacated, but the conviction still shows on your record

We’ll help you choose the best legal path for your case.

Who Is Eligible for Expungement in Arizona?

You may qualify if:

  • You’ve completed all terms of a criminal sentence
  • Your charges were dismissed or you were found not guilty
  • You were arrested but never charged

However, you may be ineligible if you were:

  • Sentenced as a dangerous offender
  • Convicted of a violent, aggravated, or sex-related felony
  • Convicted of a serious offense involving weapons or injury
  • Found guilty of certain Class 2–5 felonies under chapters 14 or 35.1

If you’re unsure, we offer a free case review to help you determine your eligibility.
